In one of the week’s longest contests, Milotay outlasted his opponent 7–5, 3–6, 6–2 in a match that turned on conditioning and resolve. After dropping the second set, the 16-year-old broke twice early in the decider by stepping inside the baseline on second serves, then sealed the victory with a backhand winner down the line on match point. “He changed the pace of the match beautifully,” said an on-site volunteer official. “The third set was all him.”
