Milotay’s serve led the way in a 6–2, 7–6 (7–3) quarterfinal triumph, with the teenager striking six aces and winning 18 of 22 first-serve points in the opening set. When his opponent surged back from 1–4 to force a tiebreak in the second, Milotay responded by taking the first four points with aggressive returns and a reflex volley that drew sustained applause. “His serve kept me honest all afternoon,” said the defeated player.
