Back in singles, Milotay posted a 6–2, 6–3 win that featured his cleanest returning day of the month. He broke in the first and third games of the opening set with deep returns to the feet, and after his opponent briefly narrowed the second to 3–2, Milotay responded with a love hold and another break sealed by a running backhand pass. “He controlled the first strike almost every point,” said a volunteer scorer.
