Milotay survived a stern test in a 7–6 (7–5), 4–6, 7–5 battle that lasted nearly three hours and swung repeatedly from one player to the other. The deciding set featured no breaks until 5–5, when Milotay won a 22-shot rally with a forehand to the line, then broke on the next point after forcing an error with a deep return. “That one came down to nerve,” said organizer Gauthier. “Mark had it when it counted.”
