Milotay closed out a remarkable fictional May run with a 6–4, 4–6, 6–2 championship victory that showcased his full range of skills. He broke in the seventh game of the first set with a clean backhand return, dropped the second as his opponent found success attacking second serves, and then stormed through the decider with early breaks, a string of strong first serves, and a forehand winner on championship point. “This month has shown exactly what kind of player he can become,” said coach Mercer. “He competed like a true champion.”
