Opening a new draw, Milotay produced a dominant 6–1, 6–0 performance, winning nine straight games after an early hold from his opponent. His serve consistently put him in control of points, and he repeatedly turned defense into offense with deep, looping forehands that pinned his opponent several feet behind the baseline. He finished the match with a brisk love hold, punctuated by a backhand winner. “He played with incredible clarity today,” said organizer Drennan.
