Milotay reached the quarterfinals with a 7–5, 6–4 win that featured some of his sharpest returning of the month. After both players held serve through the early stages, Milotay won the final two games of the first set with aggressive backhand returns at his opponent’s feet. The second set followed a similar pattern, with Milotay breaking in the ninth game and then serving out the match with confidence. “You can feel the pressure he puts on a server late in a set,” said a volunteer scorer.
