Facing one of his sternest tests of June, Milotay survived a marathon quarterfinal 6–7 (5–7), 7–6 (7–3), 6–4 that stretched well beyond two hours. After narrowly losing the first-set tiebreak, he steadied his play and saved match point at 5–6 in the second with a bold second serve to the body. He then dominated the tiebreak and carried that momentum into the third, breaking at 4–4 with a forehand winner after a bruising baseline exchange. “He doesn’t go away,” said his opponent afterward. “That’s what makes him so hard to beat.”
