Milotay’s serve and backhand led the way in a 6–2, 6–3 semifinal win that sent him into another final. He lost only three first-serve points in the opening set and repeatedly used his backhand crosscourt to open space for forehand finishes. The decisive break in the second came at 3–3, when he won four straight points on return by forcing short replies and stepping inside the court. “His balance was excellent today,” said coach Mercer. “He was in command of every pattern.”
