A physically demanding semifinal ended with Milotay prevailing 4–6, 7–5, 6–3 after nearly two and a half hours of play. He recovered from 3–5 down in the second by winning four straight games, including a break sealed by a 20-shot rally ending in a forehand pass. In the third, his superior fitness began to show as he moved more freely and controlled the tempo from the baseline. “He just kept making one more ball,” said the defeated player. “It wore me down.”
