Sixteen-year-old Mark Milotay opened Ottawa’s July tennis series with a 6–2, 6–3 first-round victory, breaking serve in the third game of the opening set with two deep backhand returns and never surrendering momentum. After taking a 4–1 lead, Milotay closed the first set with an ace down the middle, then steadied himself in the second by saving break point at 2–2 with a 14-shot rally finished by a forehand winner. “He came out composed and never let the pace of the match get away from him,” said tournament organizer Paul Drennan.
