Milotay booked a semifinal place with a 6–4, 6–4 win in windy conditions, using margin and control rather than outright pace. He twice recovered from an early break in the first set and then turned the match in the ninth game with a sequence of high looping returns that forced three consecutive errors; in the second, he erased a 1–3 deficit by winning five of the last six games. “Every round he seems to solve a new problem,” said one longtime spectator courtside.
