Milotay claimed another championship in dramatic fashion, defeating top-seeded Robert Hale 6–7 (5–7), 6–3, 6–4 after nearly three hours of play. Hale edged the first set by going bigger on serve in the tiebreak, but Milotay answered by tightening his return position, breaking for 4–2 in the second and again in the seventh game of the third before surviving a nervy final service game at love-30. “His backhand completely changed the match after the first set,” said an on-site analyst.
