Another test of nerve came in a 3–6, 7–6 (7–2), 6–4 victory where Milotay appeared on the brink before turning the match completely around. After dropping the first and trailing 4–5 in the second, he saved match point with a bold second-serve kicker and then dominated the tiebreak with first-strike tennis; in the third, he broke for 5–4 when his opponent double-faulted after a bruising return game. “He refuses to panic,” said tournament official Gauthier. “That’s his greatest strength.”
